Responsibilities of a Flagger

In order to keep an eye on the movement of vehicles near road construction sites, we are seeking to engage a committed and perceptive flagger. The flagger's duties include advising drivers of potential alternative routes, notifying law enforcement of disobedient drivers, and responding to inquiries from drivers. In case it's necessary, you should also be able to safely guide emergency vehicles through construction zones.

You need to be able to work well with others as a team and have strong communication skills in order to be a successful flagger. In the end, a top-notch flagger should have a thorough understanding of local traffic laws as well as remarkable observational abilities. 


Are you capable?

 

  • guiding traffic through road construction areas with hand gestures and direction signage.
  • use handheld radios to communicate with other flaggers to guide two-way traffic onto a single lane.
  • letting the construction team know about any traffic problems that might endanger them.
  • placing warning and detour signs in the proper locations around construction sites.
  • placing traffic cones and barricades around building projects to separate off specific areas.
  • removing all signs, barriers, and traffic cones when construction is finished.
  • helping the construction team remove dangerous substances, waste, and trash.
  • logging the license plate numbers of drivers that disobey traffic regulations and instructions.

Flagger Requirements

 

  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • The ability to work in harsh weather conditions.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional observation skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
